Preschool Aquatics 1 (Ages 2-3)

• Enters and exits water safely
• Blows bubbles through mouth
• Is comfortable when held in water
• Floats when supported on front
• Floats when supported on back
• Kicks when supported on front
• Kicks when supported on back
• Walks unassisted in bottom stair

• Puts on lifejacket on deck and enters shallow end
• Jumps in water with little assistance
• Blows bubbles with mouth in water
• Blows bubbles with whole face in water
• Bobs head completely under water (5 times)
• Walks 10 feet in chest deep water
• Floats when supported on front
• Floats when supported on back
• Kicks when supported on front
• Kicks when supported on back
• Flutter kick on front with kickboard (1 length shallow end)
• Flutter kick on back with kickboard (1 length shallow end)
• Swims 15 feet unassisted
• Glide on front for 2 body lengths

Level 2 (Ages 4+)

• Puts on lifejacket and swims (1 lap shallow end)
• Floats on front for (5 seconds)
• Floats on back for (5 seconds)
• Treads water (15 seconds)
• Front glide (5 seconds)
• Front kicking glide (5 seconds)
• Rhythmic breathing on wall
• Front crawl (1 lap shallow end)
• Back crawl (1 lap shallow end)
• Whip kick on front using kickboard (1 lap shallow end)
• Whip kick on back using kickboard (1 lap shallow end)

Level 3 (Ages 4+)

• Put on lifejacket, jumps in deep water, and swim (1 length)
• Float on front (1 minute)
• Float on Back for (1 minute)
• Tread water (30 seconds)
• Rotary breathing at wall (10 times)
• Front crawl with rhythmic breathing (1 lap)
• Back crawl (1 lap)
• Whip kick on front using kickboard for (1 lap)
• Basic breaststroke understanding
• Whip kick on back using kickboard for (1 lap)
• Basic understanding of elementary backstroke
• Basic scissor kick understanding
• Knee dive

• Front float (3 minutes)

• Tread water for (2 minutes)

• Swims in straight line

• Medley – butterfly, back crawl, breaststroke, and front crawl (2 laps)
• Open turn for front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly
• Basic front flip turn understanding
• Basic back flip turn understanding
• Swims with clothing (6 minutes)
• Tread water with clothing (4 minutes)
• Tuck surface dive
• Pike surface dive
• Retrieve items at bottom of pool
• Approach, hurdle, and dive on board

• Back crawl with racing start and flip turn (4 laps)

• Elementary backstroke (2 laps)
• Sidestroke (2 laps)

• Medley – butterfly, back crawl, breaststroke, and front crawl (4 laps)
• 10 minute endurance swim
• Approach breaststroke (2 laps)
• Approach front crawl (2 laps)
• Front flip turn
• Back flip turn
• Swims continuously with clothing (10 minutes)
• Tread water with clothing (8 minutes)
• Proper front crawl racing start
• Proper back crawl racing start

• Day 1 swim 15 laps equivalent of 1/3 mile
• Day 2 swim 22 laps equivalent of 1/2 mile
• Day 3 swim 30 laps equivalent of 2/3 mile
• Day 4 swim 36 laps equivalent of 4/5 mile
• Day 5 swim across White Lake approx. 1 mile
